PBA Player Profile: Chris Lutz

Chris Ryan Lutz, or simply Chris Lutz, is a 26-year old Filipino-American basketball player for the PBA basketball team Petron Blaze Boosters. He stands 6’4” and weighs 190 lbs.

Lutz career on basketball began when he was studying in Trinity High School, where he averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists as a senior. He was also Trinity’s all time leading scorer with over 1,600 points. In College, Lutz played for the Brewster Academy and averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.

Being a Marshall University standout, Lutz averaged 9.2 points, which is considered the second highest average among all freshmen in the Big Ten. He has also set Purdue’s freshman three-point field goal record with 53 and scored in double figures in 14 games, including a career-high 20 against New Orleans.

In early 2009, Lutz has decided to play for the Philippine national basketball team Smart Gilas under the supervision of Coach Rajko Toroman, former coach of the Iran national basketball team. This year, Lutz became the third pick for Petron Blaze Boosters in the latest PBA basketball rookie draft. Currently, Lutz is living up his pre-season hype by dishing out exceptional performances during the opening week of the PBA 37th Season Philippine Cup.
