Mark Caguioa already accomplished many things as a basketball player. As a rookie, he won the Rookie of the Year award in his first year as a professional. He won multiple championships with the Barangay Ginebra Kings. The Spark was also a two-time Best Player of the Conference and the winner of this award last Commissioners Cup. The only thing missing in his successful career is the most prestigious individual award, the MVP.
Mark Caguioa chances this season to win the award is very high. Mark is playing great basketball this season while averaging double digits in points. The amazing fact here is that he comes off the bench and rarely starts in the past seasons. Embracing the role of a player who comes off the bench was very easy for him while still being the go to guy and leader of the team.
With Gary David’s Powerade team failed to secure a semi-finals slot, Caguioa’s chances of capturing his first MVP is already near. In the two games that he played during the semi-finals battle against Meralco Bolts and Petron Blazers, he averaged 17.5 points which won him the Player of the week honors. He is so far the most consistent local player in the semis.
If the man called the Spark will guide his team all the way to the Finals, no doubt about it, he will be this season MVP for sure.
